Pangasius, as well as many other freshwater fish species, are susceptible to many common diseases. Fish pathogens are divided into two groups: infectious diseases (viruses, bacteria and parasites) and non-infectious agents caused by the environment, nutrition or microorganisms.

Diseased shrimp have many white spots from 0.5 to 2.0 mm in size appearing inside the shell, especially the cephalothorax, the 5th, 6th abdominal segments and then spreading to the whole body.
